St. Patrick's Doubles Plus One

My bloggy friends and I are having so much fun with the Leprechaun's Gold Blog Hop.  If for some reason you missed the news yesterday you can find out all about it by clicking on the picture below.

 

Now for an update. I spent a few minutes today updating my St. Patrick's Day Doubles Plus One math work station. 

To play students roll a die, double the number and add one.  I included an "I can..." card so hopefully the students refer to it rather than ask you what to do.

March Currently .... and 1 more day until TPT Gold!!

I'm linking up with Farley over at Oh' Boy 4th Grade because I just love reading about what everyone is up to.  Here's what's going on with me today...

Listening: The news - I enjoy keeping up with current events but I don't think my husband realizes it's on it's third loop :)  (I won't say anything until I'm done on the computer - maybe he won't notice that I'm still on here)

Loving: That it's March break - Not only do I get to spend the week with my family but I don't need to set my clock AND spring is on the way!!!!

Thinking: I am DONE with winter - If it snows where you are you know what I mean!

Wanting: A new spring wardrobe - there are some great new styles out there this year!

Needing: To get to work on my March break to-do list.  First up, building my leprechaun door then I have so much housework I'd like to get done!

Like, Love, Hate: This was tough - 3 words that start with the letter L.  Lists - I am a lister (is that a word?)  I have them everywhere!  Laughter - I can't get enough of it!  Line-ups - I hate wasting time and I see line-ups as a huge waste of time!

Lucky Four Leaf Clovers

Are you feeling lucky?  Would you like to challenge your students?  I'm planning to get my students adding some four leaf clovers.

This is a simple matching activity with a not so simple task.  Students need to add four addends from a four leaf clover and match it to the card with the sum.  There is a recording sheet included and an I can... card to build student independence.

St. Patrick's Day ABC Order Freebie

Happy Sunday!  I'm starting to get ready for my March literacy stations and I thought I would share this alphabetical order word work activity with you.

Included you will find four cards.  Each card contains 5 St. Patrick's Day vocabulary words that need to be printed in alphabetical order.  I have included two different recording sheets for you to choose from.

Ice Cream Persuasive Writing

I recently picked up a copy of a persuasive writing activity by Ms. Smarty Pants at TPT that I need to share with you.

She has it laid out step by step so there is very little prep to do and you're ready to go.  To make it even easier, she and I have the same favorite flavor of ice cream so I could copy her example without even needing to think of my own reasons :-)

I completed this activity over a couple of days.  We began by reading an ice cream story and then brainstorming a list if our favorite flavors (there are some strange flavors out there, I wish I snapped a picture of our list for you!).  Using the ice cream cone templates and some pastels they made some yummy looking creations!  I recorded my opinion statement and then they printed theirs.  We also did shared writing of my reasons before they worked on theirs.

I recently heard a story that absolutely touched my heart ...

Amazing Giveaway at Chalk One Up for the Teacher

"Don't Put All Your Eggs in One Basket" - students need to sort addition sentences.  I love this because the sums are exactly what we are working on now.

"Bunny Hops Plus 10" - another skill that we are working on now.  Students spin the spinner and play the station like bingo.  I have a clear spinner at school, but a paper clip and pencil will also work.

This unit also includes a Bunny Glyph that I plan to use in a few weeks.  I can't wait to see how they turn out

Bunny Trouble Booktivities

One of the first units I posted at my TPT store was Bunny Trouble.  Since then I have learned so much that I thought it was time for a little makeover.  So (drum roll.....) here is a peek at the new and improved version:

Bunny Trouble by Hans Wilhelm is one of my favorite Easter stories.  In this unit you'll find a variety of activities including ABC order, fiction vs. non-fiction, sentence scrambles, creative writing and many more.  If you have already purchased this unit please head over to TPT and download a new copy.
