It's been awhile :)

Hi all!
It seems like it's been awhile since I've written a post. My blog is unfortunately one of the things that gets pushed aside when life gets busy.  But, family first and with two teenagers need I say more????
I've updated an activity I use in my classroom and realized it's posted as a freebie in my store so have posted the update there. It's not listed as a new product so it won't come up in your feed but here's a peek...

This is a dice doubles plus one game played with a partner.  Students roll one dice, double the number, add one and color the sum.  The first to cover all their numbers wins.  I've included an 'I can' card to build student independence and all pages are in both color and black and white.  You can download this freebie HERE at my TPT store.

I've had a chance to upload a new Easter Mystery Picture.  I've had a 1-100 one in my store (which got a little update) and earlier this week added one for a 120 chart.

Word Family Easter Freebie

Hi all!  I've got my creative juices flowing again now that my report cards are DONE!!  That is such an amazing feeling (as you know!)  Now, to get through the rest of this never ending winter here in the east.

When getting all of my Easter literacy centers ready for next week I needed just one more activity so thought I would share it with you.  Click on the picture below or the link under to get your freebie!

To complete this activity students need to differentiate between word families  ack/ake, ick/ike and ock/oke. This is so hard to do for some of my students!  Each word family is colored a color from the 'code' to show understanding.  I have included "I can..." student instruction cards in both color and black & white.  You can download this for free HERE.

I used the same clip art that I used in my Easter Literacy Work Stations so they 'match' if you are using them.

Easter Mirror Fun!

Are you ready for some Easter fun?  My students loved using the mirrors (cheaply purchased at the dollar store!) during out St. Patrick's week so I created a similar activity for Easter.

Students use a mirror to read Easter words that are printed in 'mirror image'.

I have included 12 word cards for students to 'solve' and a choice of 2 recording pages.  One has students print the words and the second has the added challenge of a word search.  An 'I can..." student instruction card is included for each recording page.

I've also included the word cards and student instruction cards in black & white.

Easter Literacy Work Stations

Happy Monday everyone!!!!  I am SO.OVER.WINTER that I've started planning for Easter!!!  I know I'm a little ahead of myself, but this will give you lots of time to get ready too!!

I have my St. Patrick's Day Literacy Work Stations in my Daily 5 stations right now and when I rotate them I'm planning to put these ones in -

I've included 6 work stations in both

black and white

Your students will be busy with:

creating compound words,

creating a how-to interactive book about how to paint an Easter egg,

sorting long and short vowels,

unscrambling color words,

putting words in ABC (alphabetical) order

and unscrambling sentences.

Bunny Trouble

I decided to use Bunny Trouble as a Guided Reading book this year with one of my high flyer groups.  They LOVED it!!

 

Afterward I introduced them to the activities from my Bunny Trouble Booktivities unit.  I stapled all the recording sheets into a booklet for each of them and VOILA they are set with a bunch of activities for the week.

Doubles Bump - Easter Style

Just a quick post today as I have had a C-R-A-Z-Y day! 

Are you looking for an Easter math station with no prep?  I'm putting this one in my math stations next week for a little extra doubles practice.

 

If you purchased this station previously go back and download again because I just added an "I can..." card.  I've decided that they are necessary in my math tubs.

Easter Tens and Ones Mystery Picture

How would you use this place value activity?  I have used them for morning work, as a math station (you can find an I can.. card here), for early finishers and as a whole class activity.

My kiddos can't seem to get enough of these activities.  They love to see what the picture will be and I love that they are getting place value practice.  First, they need to find the number and then they color.  For example,

7 tens 8 ones 78

I usually copy the two student pages side by side on an 11 X 17 paper that way they are not flipping back and forth.

Easter Measuring

How about some Easter measuring?  I've got my Easter measuring math work station ready to go this week.

Included in this unit are 12 Easter themed pictures that need to measured.  Students are asked to estimate and record their estimate before they measure.  There are 3 non-standard rulers included.  Two different colored ones to laminate and reuse that allow for easy differentiation and a black and white ruler that students can laminate and keep is also included.  An option is to use a ruler for standard measurement.  You will also find an I can... card to keep students on task and focused.  This activity is available at my TPT store.

Easter Math Work Stations

I know a few of you are looking for these math work stations and I have finally got them finished and edited.  I am a bit of a perfectionist so it always takes me longer than I think it will to get a unit created and posted :)  Anyway I hope you'll find it was worth the wait.

Included you will find 8 ready to use math stations. As always, each station includes an "I can..." card.

The main focus of most of these stations is addition and subtraction, but there are a couple of number sense stations included too.  You can find this unit at my TPT store.  I have some errands to run today (whoever said March break was relaxing?) but when I return I'll randomly choose 2 people who commented on this post to get a copy for free.

Here are a couple of my faves ...

 

"Don't Put All Your Eggs in One Basket" - students need to sort addition sentences.  I love this because the sums are exactly what we are working on now.

"Bunny Hops Plus 10" - another skill that we are working on now.  Students spin the spinner and play the station like bingo.  I have a clear spinner at school, but a paper clip and pencil will also work.

This unit also includes a Bunny Glyph that I plan to use in a few weeks.  I can't wait to see how they turn out
