February Freebie and a HUGE Update!

Happy February!!
I'm not sure about you, but I am soooo over winter!! I think it's snowed everyday for the past 3 weeks! Friday, they sent us home early which was a crazy time to get ahold of all afterschool caregivers by phone before students were put on busses.  CRAZY!!!!!!!

One good thing about the weather is that I feel a little housebound which means ... product updates and creations!!

First up  ... a little freebie that you'll find in my store.  A little subitizing review for some and much needed practice for others ... perfect for early finishers.  You'll find it HERE.
Next up ... this week I was planning some Corduroy activities for my class and realized that this learning pack needed an update .... so I recreated, from start to finish!!!!!
This book by Don Freeman is a classic, must have for every classroom!!!
You can find this HERE in my TPT store and remember, if you purchased it previously you can download the update for free!

Need a copy of the book ... you can find it on Amazon (affiliate link):

Have a wonderful week!!!!!!!

Corduroy freebie

Have you missed me?  Back to school this year has seriously been a whirlwind this year.  You'd think after 20+ years it would get easier ..... WRONG!

So, although I've been working on a new learning pack it isn't ready - (yet).  Stay tuned.

However, I peeked at my blog stats and I know you've been visiting.  To thank you for your visit here's a little freebie to use with Corduroy Bear.  It can be used on it's own, with my Corduroy Booktivities or the other coordinating freebies found on this blog (just look for my LABELS on the right side of this blog and click on Corduroy).

Students will color by word family code.  I've added an 'I can' student instruction card so just print and add it to your station.

As I said this would be a great companion to my Corduroy pack.  My favorite in the pack is a retelling rope.

Enjoy the rest of your Saturday and I'll be back soon with that new unit I mentioned :)

I Spy Color Words

If you're reading this you survived Halloween!!!  Congratulations and best of luck as we all venture into tomorrow.  On the bright side it'll be Friday and the weekend will be in sight!

I have a few students who are really struggling with color words and since I know they love to use magnifying glasses I came up with a new I spy activity for them to work on.
You'll notice I used my bear clip art and buttons so I can also tie it in with my Corduroy unit.  If you haven't seen my Corduroy unit you can read about it here.

Students will use a magnifying glass to find teeny tiny words on a button and color the button to match.  I have included an "I can..." student instruction card in both color and black and white to help keep students focused.  There is also a color word anchor chart (again with color and black and white options).  If you choose to print this in black and white you'll need to color the buttons yourself.

You can find this product at my TPT store by clicking here.  It's also been added to my I Spy Bundle

so if you already own it head on over and redownload it from your purchases for free.

If you do not have the bundle and would like a copy leave a comment.  I'll send a copy to the first 3 people who leave a comment on this post.

Good luck tomorrow as we get through the day after Halloween!!!

Corduroy update!

Please see a new post from Feb. 2018 HERE

I am a huge fan of Corduroy by Don Freeman and love to use the story in my classroom.  Retell is such a huge part of grade one so I have added a story retell rope to my Corduroy unit.

The good news - if you already own it you can redownload the unit over at TPT for free.

Students will use the retell rope to tell about the setting, characters, problem, beginning, middle, end and solution.  I included color and black and white piece in addition to a smaller students size version and an anchor chart.

These activities coordinate with my Spin (or Roll), Tally and Graph math work station.

Would you like a chance to win both of these products?  Two winners will each win BOTH!

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Good luck!

Don't forget I have some Corduroy freebies available too!  Just click on the pages below to download :)

I hope you're enjoying the long weekend!  I know I am !!!!!

As you know I LOVE Corduroy Bear and I cannot get enough of these graphics.  I just added a new math work station to my TPT store.
Do you prefer dice or spinners?  In this activity you get to decide.  Students either spin (or roll) and then graph and tally the results.  If you like both then you get 2 stations :)  I included 2 "I can..." cards so you will have the one you need.  You can find this activity here.

If you love Corduroy as much as I do you might be interested in my Corduroy Booktivities.

Corduroy Bear Booktivities

NOTE: this product has been updated.  See the new post HERE.

For a couple of months I was on the search for the perfect clipart to use with activities to go with one of my favorite books - Corduroy by Don Freeman.  One of my students asked me why I have so many copies of the book :)  I searched so many designers and then finally decided to have a custom design made.  It was worth every penny to have Jessica Weible at JW Illustrations design this little guy for me!!!
Here's a little picture with I took with Instagram of a few of the activities.

and a preview
A few of the activities included are: ABC order, sentence scramble, true / false story statements, noun / verb / adjective word sort, and a sentence type sort.  There's even a word search which would be perfect for early finishers and probably what I think is the cutest a color by vowels activity.  Click here to find this unit at my TPT store.

Now for some winners of my recent giveaway!
Congratulations Maria and Liz!  I just sent you an email with the math stations!
