Non-Standard Measurement with Lego and a Freebie :)

Do your students love Lego?  Mine do and I love to find ways to use them in learning activities.

My newest learning pack which you can find HERE has students using building blocks to measure items in the classroom.  I have included an anchor chart to show how to use the blocks to measure, an 'I can' students instruction card, 16 task cards and a recording page.  All the pages are in both color and B&W.  Just print, add some building blocks and your math station is ready to go!

Dice Activities for Back to School

I hope that you are all enjoying some much deserved rest and relaxation.  Since school ended last week I've painted my kitchen and living room and gone to half a dozen appointments that I just never have time for during the school year.
Today I spent some time finishing up my newest addition to my Dice Activities Bundle.  It has a Back to School theme and focuses on skills for early in the year.  Each activity has an 'I can' card so if you choose to use it in a center or as early finisher work students can use them with some independence.  You can read more about it HERE.  You'll find more details in the preview.

Math Mirror Words

Yikes! I just noticed that my last post was over a month ago!!  It's crazy how life gets busy at the end of the school year and the days/weeks just seem to blur together!  Hopefully, I'll be around a little more often now that school is done :)

As a special request by an AMAZING customer who has purchased over 100 of my products (yes, I said 100) I have made a new mirror words learning pack,  This one can be used cross-curricular between math and literacy.

Students use a mirror to read backward math words then print the words.  There is also the option of finding them in a word search which will be  good challenge for some students.

Each page is included in colour and black and white, and of course "I can" student instruction cards are included for each recording option.
This is a perfect companion to my I Spy Math Words pack.

I picked up my mirrors at my local dollar store and the kids get so excited to use them at a center!

Dinosaurs and an update :)

It was a dark and rainy day here in the east - a perfect day to do some housework and spend a little time on TPT :)
Today I finished up a Dinosaur measuring activity I was working on.  It can be used with either a non-standard ruler (2 sizes are included) or a standard ruler of either inches or centimeters.  However, before students measure the 12 dinosaur themed cards they need to make and record their estimate. You can find this math station HERE.

Then, I spent some time updating a product that I created in 2012.  Each time it sells lately I cringe a bit because as much as I love the game and use it in my classroom I've learned so much about graphics since then.  If you own the original, please head HERE to download your copy for free.

This game focuses on addition and subtraction facts to 20.

Bubbles Fun!

Yikes ... I just looked at the date of my last post and it's been over a month.  What can I say ... I've been enjoying the spring weather and some family time :)

Last evening I posted a new dice pack with a bubbles theme at my TPT store.

It includes 12 print and play black and white dice activities, each with it's own I can student instruction card so you can print, add dice and toss into a math work station bin.  Of course, they could also be used whole class, small group and most of them independently.

I Spy Contraction Fun!

My students get so excited when they see I have the magnifying glasses out and have been asking for a new center.  I have a group of firsties that are ready for some independent work with contractions so created a new I Spy to keep them working and engaged.

When I was trying to decide on a clip art theme I stumbled upon these cutest s'mores by Creative Clips and just had to use them!

This learning pack includes 4 pictures (in color and black and white) each containing teeny tiny contractions that students need to read and record with a magnifying glass.  I have included 3 different recording pages to help with differentiating your student's needs.  Each option comes with an 'I can' student instruction page to keep your students on task.

It's been awhile :)

It seems like it's been awhile since I've written a post. My blog is unfortunately one of the things that gets pushed aside when life gets busy.  But, family first and with two teenagers need I say more????
I've updated an activity I use in my classroom and realized it's posted as a freebie in my store so have posted the update there. It's not listed as a new product so it won't come up in your feed but here's a peek...

This is a dice doubles plus one game played with a partner.  Students roll one dice, double the number, add one and color the sum.  The first to cover all their numbers wins.  I've included an 'I can' card to build student independence and all pages are in both color and black and white.  You can download this freebie HERE at my TPT store.

Spring themed dice activities

I just realized that I didn't share my newest dice activities with you!  Oopsy!!

Even though I am buried in snow I am dreaming of (and planning for) spring.  I have posted a new dice activities learning pack at my TPT store both on it's own and in my bundle.

Add or Subtract?

Hi friends,
I've had a number of requests to create another addition or subtraction worksheet.  Sorry it's taken so long, but here you go!

Students must look at each number sentence and decide it an addition or subtraction sign is needed.  If you are putting it in a math station or setting it out for early finishers I have included an "I can" student instruction card.  Of course, it could also be used whole class.
