Add or Subtract? The choice should be easy...

Last night I mentioned that I was working on a math work station with those adorable strawberries from Graphics From the Pond

Well, here it is...

and here's the story.

Last week for a warm up I was asking students to roll two dice and tell me whether they would need to add or subtract to get a certain number.  One word ... FAIL!  (for many, not all) so I created this math work station to reinforce this skill.

To play this game students work with a partner or a small group and roll 2 dice, decide if they want to add or subtract the numbers and cover the result on their playing card.  I included an "I can..." card to build independence.  I included both color and black & white so you can decide which is better for you.

I have this printed, laminated and ready to use tomorrow.  Would you like to use it too?  It is available at my TPT store but I'll send a copy to the first two followers who leave a comment on this post.

  3. I love those strawberries! Isn't it funny how we think kids know something and all of a sudden we realize they aren't even close!

    1. I agree! I was so surprised with how difficult my little warm-up was for them.
