Missing Addends and Giveaway

I took a much needed break from writing report cards and created this math work station that focuses on missing addends.
Aren't the graphics from Scrappin Doodles adorable??  I thought they were perfect for 'fixing up' number sentences :-)
To use this activity students choose a 'toolbox' card and then find the missing 'bolt' (number).  I created two different recording sheets so the boys and girls could each have their own :-)  An I can... card is included so just print off the activity and add to your math tub!  You can pick up a copy at my TPT store.
I'll send a copy of this activity to the first 2 followers who comment on this post. (Don't forget your email).

Did you happen to see the huge giveaway over at O"Fish"ally a First Grader?  I just love the name of her blog and as soon as I saw it a few months ago I knew I would love it!!!  There are 4 different Raffleopters so find the grade level(s) that is right for you and enter to win some amazing products including an item of your choice from my store.

I've been Boo-ed!

I've been seeing some posts of people who have been Boo-ed and now it has happened to me.  I was Boo-ed by a very special teacher over at Special Teacher for Special Kids.  If you haven't checked out her blog yet you need to hop on over!

So let the games begin...

If you've been booed, copy and paste the above pic and these "rules" into your post.

1. Give a shout out to the blogger who booed you and link back to their site!

2. Share 3-5 October activities, books, products (yours or someone else),or freebie(s) that you love!

3. Share the Boo love with 5 bloggers- make sure you check this link to make sure you don't boo someone again:

And don't forget to tell them that they have been BOOED!

4. Link up {here} so that others can find you and read about your October ideas! And while you are there... check out the other great blogs!

OK so here are my favorite October activities.  First are my Halloween Math Work Stations.  After we did the first rotation yesterday one of my students asked me not to change them until they have had a chance to do every station twice.  Too cute :-)

Another favorite would need to be I Spy Halloween Words.  My students cannot get enough of magnifying glasses.  Seriously, I know they are fun but they are almost addicted!
Lastly is another set of math work stations.  These ones have a football theme.
Now, the hard part ... choosing some blogs to Boo.  There are so many great blogs out there it was difficult to decide.  I finally decided to Boo these 5 that I frequently visit:
Be sure to check out these great blogs :-)

Doubles Plus One Freebie

My day started with a student bringing me a coffee.  How sweet is that?  To make it even more special I taught her 3 years ago but she wanted to tell me I was her favorite.  Awww...she's so adorable!!

Since she shared with me today it made me want to share with you.  Have you seen my Doubles Plus One Math Work Station at my TPT store?  The clipart came from Scrappin Doodles and are cute as can be!
I also included a black and white copy and an I can... card.
Just click on one of the pictures to download your free copy.  All I ask is that you leave feedback (I read them all) and let me know what you think!

Halloween Measuring

You know the feeling when you open your email and see a message from a parent?  Well, I opened one today and it made me smile from ear to ear.  This mom had come into my classroom to volunteer for an hour while I was doing guided reading and did a great job keeping some of my firsties on task.  The email was short and sweet but basically said "You must love your weekends.  First grade seems exhausting!" I replied that it sure is but that I couldn't imagine doing anything else.  I am sure that many of you agree with that feeling!  She has yet to schedule a second time to volunteer so I hope that we didn't scare her away!  I think it should be a requirement that all parents come and spend a bit of time in the classroom.  Just so they know what it's like.  Hmmm ... I wonder how we could mandate that?

On another note - I wanted to share with you a little about my Halloween Measuring Math Work Station.
Here's a peek at what is included.
I have included candy corn rulers, but I highly recommend using real candy corns.  Your kiddos will love you for it!  If you choose to use the rulers there is a black and white option for students to color and also a colored version.  Both come in two different sizes for differentiation.  There are arrows on the 12 different pictures to show the direction to be measured.  The recording sheet is in black and white for easy copying, but I also included a colored one for those of you who like to laminate and use dry erase markers.  Students are asked to estimate befor ethey measure.  i get tempted to jave them recordtheir estimate in pen so they can't erase it!  An I can... card is also included to increase student independence.

This activity is available at my TPT store by clicking on the picture.  I'll send a copy to the first 2 followers who leave me a comment on this post.  Don't forget your email!

2 more, 2 less

How are your students doing with understanding 2 more and 2 less?  Mine are doing very well with 1 more and 1 less but are having a harder time understanding 2 more and an even more difficult time with 2 less.  Since they love playing games I have been using this I Have... Who Has...? game this week for practice.
I have included a mini-chart for teaching and review.  It could then be hung on your math wall for a visual.  There are 30 playing cards so if you are lucky enough to have a smaller class a few students will need to have 2 cards.  I also included a student sheet so you can do an independent check of student progress.

I would love to giveaway a copy to the first 2 followers who leave a comment on this post.  Don't forget your email!  If you miss out, no worries I am selling this activity for $1.  You can find it at my TPT store by clicking on the picture.

Mystery Picture "I Can" Card Freebie

My Tens and Ones Mystery Pictures have been selling like crazy over at my TPT store.  Since I am a huge fan of the Debbie Diller math work station approach I include I can... cards with my work stations.  I usually complete my mystery picture activities as a whole class but I had a request to include an I can... card for those who use them as a work station.  So, rather than redo all of them (I have quite a few) I decided to post a generic one here.
By clicking on the picture you will be able to pick up a free copy. I hope you find it useful!
Have a great week everyone!!

Movie Night Make 10 and Halloween Giveaway

My students continue to need practice 'making 10' so I created this Movie Night Make 10 math work station to give them a little extra practice.
To play this game each student needs a playing mat.  Taking turns each player turns over 2 movie tickets.  If the tickets 'make 10' then they place them on their playing mat.  I included two different "I can..." cards.  One has students playing the game and the second has students playing the game and recording on the recording sheet.  Here's a peek at what's included:
You can find this math station at my TPT store.  I'll send a copy to the first two followers who reply to this post.  Be sure to leave your email!

Have you had a chance to check out the "Spooktacular Halloween Giveaway" over at the Peanut Gallery?  If not you need to click on the picture and head on over.
You will find two chances to win 13 products.  Good luck!!!

Turkey Time Tens and Ones

Are you as excited as I am about the upcoming long weekend.???  Some of you are celebrating Columbus Day and others are celebrating Thanksgiving.  Either way a long weekend sounds amazing right now!  Take a peek at my hundreds chart mystery picture.  Students need to solve each number before they color.  For example,

5 tens 6 ones ___

I absolutley LOVE these activities.  My students work for the longest time and don't realize how much work they are doing.  You can find this activity at my TPT store by clicking on the picture.
I will give away 2 of these  activities to the first 2 followers who leave a comment on this post.  Don't forget your email.
