BFF Subtraction Fun and a freebie

Do any of you get that Sunday night feeling?  You know the one, when you realize that tomorrow is Monday.  Again.  Don't get me wrong, I love my students, but the weekend pace is so much more relaxing than the weekday pace.  Here in the east, I've been snowed in today.  Again.  Perhaps that has added to my Sunday night feeling, but it did give me a chance to finish up a couple of things I had on the go.  Including...

...a new math work station to help my students practice subtraction.  To play this game students work with a partner or small group of BFFs, spin a spinner (or roll two dice - your choice) and subtract the number from 12.  As you can see in the picture I have included an I can student instruction card for both the spinner and dice version and every page is in both color and black & white.  You can find this at my TPT store.

I've also made this coordinating FREEBIE that I thought I would share with you.  Students subtract then color by code.  Great for early finishers and no prep!  You can pick up your copy HERE.

I hope that you enjoy the freebie and I'll also send a copy of my new math station to the first 3 people who comment on this post.

Have a great week!

Word Family Easter Freebie

Hi all!  I've got my creative juices flowing again now that my report cards are DONE!!  That is such an amazing feeling (as you know!)  Now, to get through the rest of this never ending winter here in the east.

When getting all of my Easter literacy centers ready for next week I needed just one more activity so thought I would share it with you.  Click on the picture below or the link under to get your freebie!

To complete this activity students need to differentiate between word families  ack/ake, ick/ike and ock/oke. This is so hard to do for some of my students!  Each word family is colored a color from the 'code' to show understanding.  I have included "I can..." student instruction cards in both color and black & white.  You can download this for free HERE.

I used the same clip art that I used in my Easter Literacy Work Stations so they 'match' if you are using them.

If interested, you can read more about them HERE and my Easter Mirror Words HERE.

I hope that spring is starting to arrive where you are because it certainly isn't here!  Take a peek at the 'view' out my front door!

Earth Day Literacy Stations

Happy Sunday everyone! I just came home the sweetest surprise which every teacher will understand.  I had taken my daughter to the mall and left a pile (I mean huge pile) of papers on the counter in a 'to be laminated' pile.  When I came home, not only did my hubby laminate it all, but he cut it all out too.  Wahoo!  I owe him one ;)

Earlier today I posted my newest set of literacy work centers.  They have an Earth Day theme with the cutest graphics!

I LOVE printing my stations out in color

but sometimes I run a little low on ink so included them in black & white.

There's a flap writing book for students to write about the 3R's (reusing,, reducing and recycling),
a color by word family activity,

 sentences to unscramble,

words to put in ABC order,

pictures to sort according to their beginning digraph (ch, sh, th and wh)

and compound words to build.

At this time of year my students are so independent during literacy stations.  I LOVE when they are engaged in purposeful activities while I am doing guided reading!

You can find this unit HERE at my TPT store.

I have to go and reread my report cards (so glad those are done!) and when I return in a few hours I'll randomly choose 3 followers who commented on this post to get receive a copy of this unit.   I used a random generator and will be sending a copy to those who left comments 2, 3 and 7.  I'll be sending it shortly :)

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!!

Easter Mirror Fun!

Are you ready for some Easter fun?  My students loved using the mirrors (cheaply purchased at the dollar store!) during out St. Patrick's week so I created a similar activity for Easter.

Students use a mirror to read Easter words that are printed in 'mirror image'.

I have included 12 word cards for students to 'solve' and a choice of 2 recording pages.  One has students print the words and the second has the added challenge of a word search.  An 'I can..." student instruction card is included for each recording page.
I've also included the word cards and student instruction cards in black & white.

You can find this unit at my TPT store HERE.  I'll send a copy to the first 3 people who leave a comment on this post.

Dental Health

Okay ... I admit it ... I'm a few weeks behind doing my Dental Health unit at school!! There are just not enough hours in the day to keep up!

Oh well, at least it's getting done :)

I made this alphabetical order (or ABC order as my kids call it) to use during literacy so I thought I'd share.
You can download a copy for free HERE.  If you've already completed your unit there's always next year!

I'll be back in a couple days with my newest literacy center unit - I'm excited for this one!

Spring Fun!

It's snowing like CRAZY outside my window at the moment so it's the perfect time to dream of spring!  I thought I'd share a peek into my spring math stations :)

These kids were just too cute to resist!

I've included 5 math centers for skills I am working on now in both color

and black & white

Students will be doing some work with:
 hundreds, tens and ones

 counting by 10's

 missing addends

 greater than / less than

and adding 10

Each station includes an "I can..." card to keep students on task and hopefully decrease those taps on your shoulder with the "I don't know what to do" comment.

I have posted this unit HERE at my TPT store.  Tonight, before I head to bed I will choose 3 people to send a copy to.  Just leave a comment (with your email) and I will do a random draw.   I asked my daughter to pick 3 numbers and she has come up with 3, 4 and 8.  I'll be sending the unit shortly.  Thanks to everyone who left a comment - keep visiting I have new products on the go :)

Also, there are only a few days left to enter my Mrs. Wishy-Washy giveaway.  If you haven't entered, you will find the information HERE.

Enjoy your evening, I'll be back later to send this unit to the winners :)

Spring Mystery Picture

C'mon spring!!!! I am sooooo ready for your arrival!!

I have my Easter Literacy Centers ready to go and now I have some place value practice ready for our first rainy day.  At this point here in the east, rain would be a welcome change from snow :)

As with my other place value pictures students need to solve to find the number then color to reveal the picture.

3 tens 7 ones 37

This picture goes beyond the hundreds chart to include numbers to 120.  I usually copy the two students pages side by side on an 11 X 17 paper.  The kids love working on a 'poster'.

I have included this new picture in with my ever growing Mystery Picture Bundle.
If you already own it you can re-download for free to get the new picture :)

You can find my new Spring themed mystery picture HERE.  Let's see who's on their computer tonight, I'll send a copy to the first 3 people who comment on this post.

Have a great night!!
